Boats for Sale Near Louisville: Local Listings Coming Soon
A local board for boats for sale around Louisville, Taylorsville, Rough River, Nolin and the Ohio River is coming. Here's how it will work, plus a checklist for buying a used boat safely.

Heads up: we're an independent guide. Some links may earn us a referral fee, which never changes what you pay or what we recommend. Conditions change fast on the water, so confirm closures and levels with the official source. How we make money.
Shopping for a pontoon for Taylorsville, a bass boat for Nolin, or a cruiser for the Ohio River? We're building a local boats-for-sale board for the Louisville area and the lakes we cover. Listings will come from private sellers and local dealers, each tagged by type and home lake.
Listings open soon. The board will launch with a handful of local listings before the 2027 season. Want yours to be one of them? See list your boat or email hello@lakesnearlouisville.com.
How the board will work
- Flat-fee listings. Sellers pay one flat fee to list. We take no commission and get no share of the sale.
- We're not a broker. We don't hold deposits, negotiate or handle titles. You contact the seller directly.
- Local first. Boats located around Louisville and on Taylorsville, Rough River, Nolin and the Ohio River, with Lake Cumberland next.
- Clear labels. Dealer listings and featured listings will be marked as such.
Used-boat checklist
- Check the paperwork. The HIN on the transom should match the registration and any title. Ask for maintenance records and the engine serial number.
- Look at the hull and deck. Check for soft spots, stress cracks, blistering, and pontoon tube dents or leaks.
- Run the engine. Watch it start cold, check the tell-tale water stream on outboards, and ask about the impeller and lower-unit service.
- Inspect the trailer. Look at the tires, bearings, lights, bunks and rust. A bad trailer can cost a lot to fix.
- Sea trial. Run it on the water at different speeds before you pay. Taylorsville and the Ohio River ramps near Louisville are open year-round, per Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
- Get a survey on bigger boats. For cruisers and houseboats, an independent marine surveyor is worth it, and insurers and lenders often ask for one.
- Pay safely. Meet in daylight, use a traceable payment, and don't wire deposits to a seller you haven't met.
Insurance, towing and loans
Before you buy, price boat insurance and an on-water towing membership, and if you're financing, compare boat loan offers. Partner links for these will show below when they're available. Rates and approval depend on you and the lender, and we never promise either.
